If you want to try a longer USB cable, please read this first:
The Insty Connect comes standard with (1) 15 foot data cable. There is an option to purchase an additional 15 foot data cable to daisy chain for a max length of 30 feet.
After 30 feet, the data signal and power may degrade to a point where the modem will randomly disconnect when the signal is poor. As a rule, you should try to use the shortest length of cable possible. If you are thinking of having a longer cable, instead see if an option exists where you can place the router closer to the point where you want the antenna.
If moving the router is not an option, you may be able to use a longer cable if you find a higher quality ACTIVE usb data cable. These cables have a repeating hub inside the cable that will repeat the data signal so it can travel over the longer wire. They also have a point of power injection that you can inject power into the cable to overcome any power loss.
You can try to purchase these data cables from Amazon. You will want to search for a USB 2 Active data cable (do not purchase a USB 3). It MUST be active. Some cables will say they are active, but they are not. Read the comments as people will report if they are truly active or not. Also, be prepared to purchase 2 or 3 cables and try them all. Some will work, others may work for a time and disconnect randomly, and others simply won't work at all. Be ready to return the ones or lose out on the money spent.

Because we haven't specifically tested these cables, we cannot ensure they will work properly and will not be able to support any issues that arise when using these cables.
If you have a problem while using a non-Insty cable, the first thing you should try is removing the custom cable and replacing it with an Insty approved cable.
